Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related healthcare field.
Certification required: AMT, ASCP, or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years’ laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong familiarity with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, COLA, state regulations).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day Molecular, FISH, and Flow Cytometry laboratory workflow.
Perform and verify staff training and competency assessments.
Process and analyze specimens according to laboratory procedures.
Troubleshoot technical and operational issues.
Maintain, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
Plan daily work schedules and assignments.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
Maintain accurate operational and quality documentation, including instrument maintenance and calibration, quality control checks, environmental and safety monitoring (temperature, incubators), reagent and consumable preparation, proficiency testing documentation, records for send-out specimens.
Process specimens for send-out testing as needed.
Participate in development and implementation of new instruments and procedures.
Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory personnel.
Conduct hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Communicate operational expectations and performance goals.
Collaborate with laboratory leadership on quality metrics and operational strategy.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, COLA, OSHA, etc.).
Oversee quality control programs and proficiency testing.
Identify and resolve issues impacting test performance or result reporting.
Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Support internal and external audits.
Maintain inventory levels to support uninterrupted workflow.
Ensure reagents, consumables, and other solutions are prepared, properly stored, viable, and documented, with lot numbers, expiration dates, and any quality control checks recorded.
Oversee instrument service, maintenance, and calibration records.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
