About The Position

As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes. Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation. Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered. Sets up, calibrates and Maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module. Obtains rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur. Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval Trouble shoots telemetry equipment, Ensures monitors are functioning properly, ensure telemetry supplies are readily available. Accounts for all telemetry transmitters, Verifies daily telemetry charges Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriate staff Assists in answering telephone, ensures transmitters are properly cleaned between patients. Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatory in‐services and Code Validation within given time frame, attends unit‐based in‐services, attends monthly departmental meetings. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unit/service needs, i.e., floating to other areas

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited EKG Technician Program, upon hire
  • Completed Internship at Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center or One (1) year of experience as a Monitor Tech, EMT, or Paramedic
  • Basic Life Support - AHA, within 14 - days
