About The Position

As a Monitor Technician, you will be a central figure in continuous patient surveillance, diligently observing and interpreting cardiac rhythms to identify critical changes and alert the nursing and medical teams. You will play a vital role in patient safety by providing constant, expert monitoring for individuals with cardiac conditions or those at risk. Every day, you will meticulously monitor multiple patient electrocardiograms (ECGs) from a central telemetry station, accurately identifying and documenting cardiac arrhythmias, and promptly communicating significant rhythm changes or emergencies to the appropriate clinical staff. You will also maintain precise logs, ensure proper functioning of monitoring equipment, and collaborate with nursing staff to confirm lead placement and address technical issues, all while maintaining a calm and focused demeanor. To be successful in this role, you will combine a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmia recognition, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional observation skills. You will demonstrate the ability to react quickly and accurately in critical situations, possess clear communication abilities, and thrive in a focused, fast-paced environment dedicated to continuous patient safety and early intervention. Provides accurate monitoring and documentation (based on Telemetry Unit Standards of care) of patients on Cardiac Monitor in timely and consistent manner. Provides/ gives accurate written and verbal shift report to other Monitor Technicians, relating to patient's condition and rhythm status consistently every change of shift. Accurately maintains written monitor log sheet on each patient with interpretations of rhythms at all times. Notifies Charge Nurse or RN caring for the patient of any dysrhythmias immediately. Provides accurate information for physicians, nurse and other personnel regarding the patient's EKG status at all times. Records all required information accurately in the monitor log book, including patient's admission, discharge and/or transfer dates consistently.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year clinical experience in an acute hospital setting as a Monitor Tech or EKG Tech
  • Cardiology Tech
