Supports, develops, organizes and implements high quality youth and adult sports programs and leagues. Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates all youth and adult sports programming and leagues.
  • Expands youth and adult sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Maintains inventory and records of condition of Sports Department equipment.
  • Assist the Sports Director in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel (part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Monitor daily operations of the gymnasium and field and maintain safety, cleanliness and order in these areas.
  • Responsible for assisting with sports programming operations including but not limited to: creating sports teams, organizing and conducting parent orientation meetings and conducting all trainings and meetings for coaches.
  • Ensure adequate coverage for all youth and adult leagues on and off site.
  • Acts as coach, referee and instructor, as needed.
  • Responsible for the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with off-site facility staff.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Highly flexible schedule with varying hours including working evenings and weekends.
  • Attends sports cabinet meetings and other related meetings as assigned.
  • Compiles program statistics.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
