About The Position

Anticipated hiring range: $47,250- $50,000 The person in this position must possess the specialized knowledge necessary to work with college autistic students and must consistently stay up to date on research/best practices related to this work and coaching strategies through collaboration with program leadership. The person in this position must maintain organized and professional relationships with academic partners while assessing the effectiveness of the academic engagement of Mosaic students and the effectiveness of coaching strategies. This person would carry a large caseload of students for academic, social, and executive function coaching while also recruiting tutors for extended study hours. This person would research UDL strategies and best practices for supporting autistic college students in the classroom and will collaborate with Mosaic leadership to create and deliver workshops to academic departments and support staff on our campus. This will help UTC stay a actively and engaged autism confident campus. This person executes and supervises the study hours component of the program and manages the data out of this component. This person is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising part-time students and interns for extended study hours. Finally, this person will gather data and assist in creating program reports.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • An understanding of the experience of autistic college students.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a large caseload of students to help manage the coaching relationship, mentor relationship and problem solve any academic issues as it comes to college success and retention through specialized skill set and knowledge of working with autistic college students.
  • Meet weekly with Mosaic students and manage crisis situations as they arise, which mitigates risk for the university.
  • Address any classroom management concerns and help faculty problem solve situations.
  • Serve as a social interpreter between student, faculty, and campus partners as needed.
  • Develop campus partnership for the purpose of furthering the Mosaic mission and academic initiatives at UTC.
  • Assess the study/coaching strategies as it relates to the retention and success of autistic college students.
  • Research best practices and develop evidence-based strategies and resources to distribute to campus colleagues.
  • Using these evidence-based strategies, this person will develop and deliver academic workshops to students.
  • Monitor escalation during extended study hours
  • Collaborate with team members to develop, implement and evaluate educational and social programing efforts of the Mosaic program.
