This professional services work involves leadership and management of Maine’s only unit overseeing the training and performance of driver, commercial driver, and motorcycle rider education schools and their instructors. Work centers around professional development and daily tasking of four geographically dispersed field staff members. Responsibilities also involve conducting on-site inspections of schools and quality assurance and compliance with Maine statutes and rules, to include investigation and resolution of customer complaints, and when necessary, suspension of school or instructor licenses. External activities include coordinating proposed legislation related to driver/rider education, consultation with the Federal Motor Carrier Administration, and inter-agency work with related state agencies to include periodic orchestration of the Technical Review Panel for Driver/Rider Education. Work is performed under limited supervision, with frequent travel expected across the state of Maine.
