About The Position

Under the direction of the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area (SMRA) Director of Risk & Safety, Patrol Director and the Assistant Patrol Director(s), responsible for first aid and transport of injured guests/participants from bike trails and other locations around the resort; sweeping trails before opening and throughout the day; bike trail hazard identification and evaluation; bike trail maintenance; and assisting with various other mountain projects/events.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Valid driver’s license
OEC or equivalent medical training
CPR / AED certification
Competent mountain bike riding skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English in a fluent manner.
Must be able to make independent decisions based upon standard policies and procedures, as well as use good judgment in day-to-day activities.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a summer mountain bike patroller
Ability to Mountain Bike or experience operating a UTV

Responsibilities

Provide emergency medical care for SMRA guests and staff as needed
Monitor general safety / hazard marking and signs of ski resort summer bike trails
Repair and maintain in operational readiness all caches of equipment, signs, closures, rescue equipment storage, mountain related /bike patrol equipment
Respond to calls and patrol the area using UTVs and/or Mountain Bikes
Assist with bike trail maintenance as directed, including identifying and marking hazards
Assist with set up and breakdown related to mountain bike events/activities
Helps with SMRA special events as needed
Provide excellent guest service
Have direct and continuous interaction with guests, other patrollers and resort personnel and maintain good working relationships
Aid and support for other departments at Spirit Mountain as needed
Have high work standards, be customer-focused and self-motivated
