About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a full-time Materials and Process Technology Engineer - Chemical Technology (Mid-level or Senior) specializing in chemical processing, corrosion, and aircraft finishing systems to join our team located at the Boeing facility in Berkeley, MO. The position offers a wide variety tasks and responsibilities including specification authoring and maintenance, and production support to St Louis programs (MQ-25, F/A-18, F-15) for finishes and coatings. Additionally, this position will provide fleet and spares support regarding maintenance, modification and repair to out of production aircraft programs. The position will be responsible for such processes and technologies on these programs including plating, paint, sealing, corrosion protection and chemical analysis. The successful candidate will be: energetic; driven; able to work independently and in a team; and able to complete special project assignments. The candidate will possess knowledge in corrosion principals, design concepts and techniques related to finishing systems, chemical laboratory equipment, fuels, lubricants, inorganic chemicals, qualification and analysis methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience in one more of the following specialties: Aerospace or Automotive Paint Application, Paints & Coatings, Inorganic Chemical Processes.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Interim Pre-Start & Final Post Start Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • You must be willing to travel up to 10%.
  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Berkeley, MO site
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Author and revise material or process specifications
  • Environmental protection methods and requirements
  • Investigation of corrosion reports, recommending design changes to reduce corrosion impacts, address corrosion related inquiries around materials, processes and equipment
  • Support non-conformances, fleet impact assessments, notice of escapes
  • Review and approve suppliers to chemical processing methods
  • Analyze failures, conduct failure analysis, lead and process improvements or initiatives to finishing systems
  • Interface with government, external and internal customers
  • Review and approve documents and drawings for finishing requirements
  • Perform production acceptance and/or qualification of materials
  • Production and development support of Boeing St. Louis aircraft programs
  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application
