About The Position

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: Operate MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for VA Portland HCS patients, ensuring patient identification, safety, and understanding of the procedure and any hazards. Work independently, reporting unusual problems/conflicts to the Imaging Chief Technologist; participate in patient safety and TJC-related activities.

Requirements

  • Two years' experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an MRI Tech in the last six months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational training program in which technologists are certified as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate superconductive MRI equipment to acquire images following complex protocols and assignments.
  • Maintain and work from HIS–RIS worklist (VA transitioning to Cerner).
  • Verify patient identity and ensure images are properly labelled; confirm patient ID band matches exam request.
  • Explain examinations to patients, including what will be done and any potential hazards.
  • Maintain records/files of exams performed; enter required data into VA systems.
  • Perform irregular-hour emergency scans while on standby/on-call to support 24-hour coverage as required.
  • Work independently; escalate unusual problems/conflicts to Imaging Chief Technologist.
  • Participate in VAMC/TJC activities as applicable to the position; report all patient safety incidents per VA process.
  • Support staffing coverage consistent with ICSP task orders and PWS staffing requirements.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
