About The Position

The Multi Building Custodian plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of multiple facilities within an assigned geographic area. This position ensures that all buildings are well-maintained, presentable, and compliant with health and safety standards, thereby creating a welcoming environment for occupants and visitors. The custodian will manage routine cleaning tasks, perform minor maintenance duties, and coordinate with vendors or maintenance teams as needed. Effective time management and organizational skills are essential to efficiently cover multiple locations while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and operational functionality. Ultimately, this role supports the smooth operation of facilities by proactively addressing maintenance needs and ensuring a hygienic and safe environment across all assigned buildings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial services, preferably in a multi-building or multi-site environment.
  • Ability to operate standard custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuum cleaners.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling and storage procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in custodial or facility maintenance services.
  • Experience with minor building maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, or painting.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple locations or schedules.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between multiple building sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal across multiple buildings.
  • Maintain restrooms by replenishing supplies, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring cleanliness standards are met consistently.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance issues such as leaks, lighting problems, or safety hazards and report them promptly.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment and supplies safely and efficiently, ensuring proper storage and inventory management.
  • Coordinate with building management and external contractors for specialized maintenance or repairs as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations while performing custodial tasks.
  • Respond promptly to urgent cleaning or maintenance requests to minimize disruption to building occupants.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, maintenance requests, and supply usage for reporting purposes.
