About The Position

This position is accountable for performing quality Imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care. This position is accountable for providing expertise for all ages from neonatal/newborn to adults. The patient acuity ranges from stable outpatients to critically ill patients. Provides diagnostic health care services utilizing a combination of strengths in a combination of imaging modalities; i.e. General/Fluoroscopy radiology, CT, MRI (high field), and ultrasound

Requirements

  • ARRT required
  • La state license
  • BLS Certified
  • 2-3 years’ experience general radiography
  • Possess a level of clinical expertise and competency in cross sectional anatomy
  • Must have the ability to handle critical care situations which can create a high level of stress

Nice To Haves

  • MRI/CT certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Know and demonstrate proficiency of all Radiological examinations. As well as proficiency in an additional modality: MRI, CT, Ultrasound or Surgical C-Arm
  • Maintains the safety of the patient and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety.
  • Evaluates examination orders for pertinent clinical information and assesses needs of patient and requirements for the exam in conjunction with the radiologist.
  • Recognize emergent patient conditions.
  • Assist Radiologist with Invasive Procedures
  • Provide positive environment for employees to seek their highest potential.
  • Provides appropriate information and instruction to patient and family.
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in performing all MRI procedures as identified in the MRI Tech competency.
  • Identify anatomical orientation, sequencing of images and verify accurate patient identification of images for accurate record retention and archiving.
  • Accurately assess, select, prepare and administer contrast materials to patients in accordance to best clinical practices.
  • Demonstrate competency and efficiency in safety in the MRI suite and general radiation safety.
  • Ability to assess patient condition; preserve patient safety through proper use of immobilization devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility related information.
  • Supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to facility Policies.
  • Use computer system in documenting, correctly and accurately, patient information.
  • Proficient in computer terminology and applications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to include PACS system. Verify accurate charge capture for procedures performed.
  • Accurately transcribe physician orders and facilitate correcting mistakes or unclear orders with appropriate people.
  • Report all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other facility employees.
  • Assist in identifying appropriate indicators for the department’s Quality Improvement programs.
  • Initiate occurrence reports when problems are identified.
  • Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.
  • Performs duties of waived and specific non-waived I-stat laboratory testing to include pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic phases of testing. This includes specimen collection and processing, instrument operating and quality controls, evaluation and documentation of test results and notification of physician of any critical results.
