About The Position

The Museum Store Lead is part of the retail segment of our Visitor Experience Department and is responsible for enhancing the visitor experience by providing customer service to visitors at both indoor and outdoor locations throughout the site.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 season of Storm King Visitor Experience service required
  • Previous cash handling experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficiency working well both individually and as part of a team
  • A strong belief in Storm King’s mission and vision, and the ability to articulate this in a persuasive and inspiring manner
  • Demonstrated passion for the visual arts, with a strong commitment to making art collections more accessible and meaningful to the general public
  • Ability to represent Storm King and its mission to a wide external audience; communicate effectively and interact with all levels of staff, the public and visitors in a positive, professional, and friendly manner
  • Proven capability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously; making sound judgments and decisions
  • Experience performing with a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Expected to be reliable, punctual, and flexible
  • Valid Class D driver’s license with a clean record, without driving restrictions

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the role of the Store Clerk as needed
  • Promote a congenial work environment, relay information from daily briefings, address staff concerns and problem-solve strategies for handling customer service situations
  • Perform daily open and closing procedures
  • Perform daily cash handling procedures including daily reconciliation
  • Provide customized service, responding to each visitor’s needs and questions
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly site tasks including but not limited to:
  • Assist with merchandizing, tagging and restocking at the Museum Store and Ticketing Pavilion
  • Assist with proper coverage of the store by ensuring proper break and rotation schedules are adhered to and covered
  • Assist with receiving and inventory
  • Coordinate merchandize drop offs
  • Assist with managing the online store
  • Monitor general visitor communication lines including the general information email and phone line.
  • Monitor merchandise levels, fulfill orders and maintain accurate records
  • Support the training of Store Clerks
  • Respond to visitor complaints and escalate as appropriate
  • Attend meetings as appropriate
  • Code/Keyholder as appropriate
