About The Position

POSITION : Lecturer of Piano/Collaborative Pianist. Full-time Instructional Academic Staff position beginning August 17, 2026. The Department of Music and Theatre Arts seeks a candidate to teach class piano and applied piano, and to contribute to departmental needs as a collaborative pianist. DEPARTMENT : The Department of Music and Theatre Arts serves approximately 420 majors and minors supported by 31 full-time and 10 part-time faculty. The department and its musical programs are highly regarded in the state and region and enrich the Eau Claire community while providing outstanding academic opportunities. Our faculty are well known for the quality of their performances and for their innovative teaching. Academic programs include the BM degree in performance and composition, the BME degree in instrumental and choral music education, and the BA and BS degrees in music and musical theatre. Requirements

  • Master’s degree required
  • Demonstrated success as a collaborative pianist.
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Demonstrated success teaching class piano and applied piano at the collegiate level is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ten credits including courses in the class piano curriculum and applied lessons to music majors.
  • Provide the equivalent of five credits of work as a collaborative pianist to cover needs of the department, including some combination of degree recitals, Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop, ensembles, and faculty/guest artist recitals, determined in consultation with the Department Chair and Keyboard Area coordinator.
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
