About The Position

School of Rock is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. With over 350 schools and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world. We put on shows to teach music! POSITION OVERVIEW This position will begin as a substitute instructor role, covering lessons and rehearsals as needed. Substitute instructors play an important role in maintaining consistency for our students and supporting the overall teaching team. As availability and scheduling needs evolve, there may be opportunities to transition into regularly scheduled teaching days. Music Instructors at School of Rock work with students of all ages and skill levels, from our youngest beginners to adult musicians. Candidates should be comfortable teaching both private lessons and group settings, working with students ranging in age from 4 years old through adults. ROLE OVERVIEW As a Music Instructor you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Music Instructor positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.

Requirements

2+ years experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design
Strong customer relations skills. Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers
Strong organizational skills
Resourceful; good problem-solver
Works well under pressure
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
Passion for teaching

Responsibilities

Maximize the quality of music instruction through private lessons and show rehearsals
Ensure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs, using the School of Rock Method™
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans using our patented teaching Method, Books and Method App
Lead and assist in group programs including rehearsals and youth programs such as Rookies and Rock 101
Be comfortable managing small groups of students in rehearsal-style learning environments
Communicate with parents on the progress of students by creating quality lesson notes and assignments in the School of Rock Method App for at-home practice
Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible while at the school
Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program
Assist in rehearsals and with the upkeep of lesson facilities and school spaces
