DIOCESE OF ALLENTOWN Notre Dame School of Bethlehem, Bethlehem Position Description Job Title: Music Teacher FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Status: Part-Time Reporting Functions: Reports to Principal Job Function: Provides daily instruction and selects age-appropriate activities in the curriculum area of music. Evaluate and record information on each child's developmental progress and provide feedback to parents.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education preferred.
PA Teacher certification preferred.
Must communicate effectively with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
Possess an understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught.
Possess an understanding of the supervision of employees and the communication skills necessary to relate to adult employees and volunteers in a collegial, as well as effective, and efficient manner.
Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
Able to maintain a high level of energy.
Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential.
PRIOR TO INTERVIEW: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (at least 1 year old.) As well as attendance at a Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

Provide daily instruction and select learning activities appropriate to student's needs based on the music curriculum set by the Allentown Diocese.
Create lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students in the class.
Teach students to understand music and the use of musical instruments.
Develop an environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
Act as a positive role model for the children.
Organize and direct the school chorus preparing them for Christmas concerts and talent shows.
Posts grades and sends grade reports to parents as required by the school system.
Keep informed of current educational practices through professional reading and educational opportunities; remain current with both religious and academic standards.
Actively establishes and maintains appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe, orderly, effective, and productive environment established from Notre Dame of Bethlehem School's discipline procedures.
Actively supervises students in hallways before, after, and between classes, in a library, in the cafeteria, in bus areas, and at special events, ensuring safety and security.
Knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for the classrooms assigned.
Attend school preparation days, in-service and staff development opportunities, and Diocesan educational workshops; attend and participate in school faculty meetings, open houses, and other school-related activities upon the request of the principal.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters including social media and online platforms.
Follow all Notre Dame of Bethlehem School and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook.
Any other duties as assigned by the Principal.
