Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in music therapy from a program approved by the American Music Therapy Association
  • 0 to 2 years of music therapist experience and completion of an American Music Therapy Association clinical internship in music therapy
  • Certified Music Therapists - The Certification Board for Music Therapists required upon hire
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment if providing services for Home Care and Hospice

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 5 years as a music therapist in an acute care or home care and hospice setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide music therapy services.
  • Initially assess the patient and family to determine plan of care, implement interventions and evaluate results.
  • Develop or contribute to the plan of care that addresses appropriate goals and interventions to meet the patient needs of ages, cultural backgrounds and in various settings (inpatient, outpatient, group, residential, hospital, nursing home, etc.).
  • Administers music therapy interventions to patient and families.
  • Maintains music therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Documents services provided in relation to expected outcomes.
  • Planning and education of services.
  • May educate support staff, volunteers and families through a variety of means.
  • May orient new staff and volunteers.
  • May plan group programs to treat patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
