Looking for a National Sales Manager for their Test & Measurement division in West Warwick, RI. This is a player-coach role managing a network of external manufacturer's reps across North America while also doing hands-on technical sales work. The position reports to the GM they've seen candidates but haven't found the right mix of technical depth, sales ability, and cultural fit. This isn't a traditional sales manager role. It's a hybrid position where you're managing external channel partners (manufacturer's reps), doing product demos, qualifying leads, supporting the inside sales team, AND contributing to product management discussions. You need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small team environment (6-10 people internally). The manufacturer's reps are the key - they represent 10-12 different product lines, and might not be in their top 6 revenue generators. Your job is to keep top of mind, motivate them to push the products, and support them when they need technical expertise to close deals. These reps know about 50-60% of the product capabilities - you need to fill in the gaps and be the technical expert when needed.
