About The Position

The Navigator is a critical position in the effective service delivery to the Youth Services Program and organizations accessing services and resources in Chicago, Illinois. K.L.E.O. Community Family Life Center believes in providing compassionate and client-centered services that are culturally competent and linguistically appropriate to all individuals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in providing survivor-centered and trauma-informed services.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong documentation skills, collaboration across shifts, and adaptability to resident needs.
  • Participation as a team player and sensitive to issues of diversity.
  • Computer knowledge of MS Office products and email systems.
  • Comfortable with learning new software programs.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional approach and demeanor that sets a professional tone for the office and ability to work collaboratively with staff, board, volunteers, clients, public, vendors, and funders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • English proficiency required.
  • Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time while working on-site.
  • Able to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with KLEO policy and procedures, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Able to perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Bilingual (Spanish or French Creole) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs, identify appropriate resources, provide all necessary information, and identify alternatives resources for clients, as necessary.
  • Refer and respond to service providers.
  • Provide information and referrals about victim services to individuals and organizations via telephone, email, and walk-in contact, when required.
  • Provide advocacy support to clients assigned by Directors as needed.
  • Advocate on behalf of the clients with other agencies, when necessary.
  • Conduct follow-up calls.
  • Maintain accurate client data records.
  • Attend resource-sharing meetings, fairs and other community events, as assigned.
  • Document calls and follow up in accordance with agency policies.
  • Send proper follow-up/warm referral documentation to advocates and statewide partners in accordance with agency policies.
  • Enter data into Reporting System.
  • Ensure data collection is timely and accurate.
  • Help maintain Resource Guide(s).
  • Sort and deliver mail.
  • Mail outreach materials to community partners and organizations as requested.
  • Collect materials and assist in recruitment for events.
  • Assist with volunteer engagement and management.
  • Assist and attend outreach and awareness events.
  • Assist with overflow work, or provide backup as needed.
  • Must comply with agency requirements of strict client confidentiality, professional ethics and agency policies and procedures.
  • Must participate in the following but not limited to monthly staff meetings; training (travel often required); fundraising events; community fairs; client events, outreach efforts and other events as directed by leadership.
  • All other duties as assigned.
