About The Position

The NCAA Men's Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive NCAA Division I men's ice hockey program. This role assists with student-athlete development, recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, and program administration while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or competitive level preferred.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and recruiting regulations
  • Ability to instruct and develop student-athletes in ice hockey skills and team systems
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel frequently during the season

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and competition strategies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA Division I recruiting regulations.
  • Provide instruction and mentorship to student-athletes to support athletic performance, academic success, and personal development.
  • Analyze opponent strategies and assist with scouting reports, video review, and game preparation.
  • Support program operations including travel, equipment coordination, community outreach, and alumni engagement.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, and adherence to NCAA and institutional compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the men's ice hockey program.
