About The Position

This position is responsible for the deployment, administration, monitoring, training and support for all data network links (WAN and LAN) and associated hardware. This position also provides technical support for the Cooperative's network and end users as directed by the Manager of Information Systems.

Requirements

  • Two year technical degree in telecommunications or equivalent formal training and work experience required.
  • Must have 2 or more years of experience installing and troubleshooting network equipment and peripherals.
  • Should be security-minded with all work.
  • Position requires being able to work with others in the organization on design, installation, and support.
  • Should be able to learn new technologies and systems quickly and determine how those technologies could benefit the organization.
  • Should be able to quickly troubleshoot and remediate issues.
  • Should identify and make recommendations on how to improve the stability and performance of the network.
  • This individual should be self-motivated and able to develop, propose, and execute Information Systems projects to achieve Cooperative goals and objectives.
  • Should be skilled in project management, verbal and written communications, and organizational planning.
  • Must have the ability to identify system failures quickly and accurately and to respond to such failures in a timely manner including communicating with and provisioning services from appropriate third party vendors.
  • Should be able to utilize various network diagnostic software to monitor network health and other critical network components.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that permits operation of Cooperative passenger vehicles without restriction.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP or similar level of certification desired.
  • Experience negotiating and provisioning services from telecommunications vendors preferred.
  • Experience with VoIP and IP-based security and surveillance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design network infrastructure that is highly available, secure, and meets the needs of the various types of traffic that it will carry. Plan for future growth.
  • Deploy network infrastructure in a clean, organized, and documented manner such that it is easily supported.
  • Monitor network for equipment and link failures, quality or capacity issues, and security incidents.
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment or links. Engage outside vendors when necessary to repair service or equipment issues.
  • Propose designs and implement configuration that strengthen the security of the network.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for the network system's appropriate use.
