About The Position

Incumbent, under the general supervision of the Network Manager, is responsible for planning, design, documentation, installation, ongoing analysis, and control of the campus voice and data network infrastructure. Work includes researching "best of breed" technologies for expansion of the networks to meet academic and administrative program needs and the needs of campus users. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination and documentation of assigned projects within Network Operations. The incumbent is expected to act as part of the team supporting wireless networks, network clients, and supporting systems. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible as a tier-3 specialist in support of network clients, including wired, wireless, and VPN systems. The incumbent will act as a liaison between the campus and manufacturers, vendors, and consultants regarding network technologies and services.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.
  • Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with wireless networks and associated support infrastructure is preferred, particularly with Aruba Networks systems.
  • Experience with network client support is preferred.
  • Experience with network security systems is also preferred.
  • Experience with the installation and testing of network cabling systems.
