About The Position

At Independent Software, you will design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across complex environments using Cisco and Arista technologies. As a Network Engineer Level 2, you will help optimize network performance, support secure communications, and ensure compliance with SSP and STE/STN requirements while working alongside engineering teams to maintain reliable, scalable network operations. This role offers hands-on work with modern networking technologies, performance optimization, and infrastructure modernization initiatives. Some travel may be required, and participation in on-call operational support is expected.

Requirements

  • Strong Cisco and Arista configuration and sustainment experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN networking environments
  • Familiarity with LatteArt and applying SSP/STE/STN compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of network security, routing, switching, and performance optimization
  • Experience with network protocols including VPNs, VoIP, IPSec, NAT, GRE tunneling, and traffic shaping
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network and infrastructure issues
  • Willingness to travel as needed and participate in on-call operational support
  • Strong collaboration and documentation skills
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of relevant network engineering experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline and eight (8) years of relevant network engineering experience; OR
  • Twelve (12) years of relevant network engineering experience with an industry-recognized certification (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Juniper) may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • DoD IAT Level II certification required
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and sustain Cisco and Arista network infrastructure
  • Support LAN, CAN, and WAN environments including performance optimization and troubleshooting
  • Apply SSP compliance and STE/STN security requirements to network devices
  • Design and implement network solutions including VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, VoIP, NAT, IPSec, and GRE tunneling
  • Monitor network performance, minimize latency, and optimize data throughput
  • Support network upgrades, cutovers, and infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate with system engineers, users, and operations teams to resolve network issues
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and support operational continuity
