Tyto Athene is searching for a Network Engineer - Mid-Level to support a defense customer in Richmond, VA Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of wireless network maintenance and performance monitoring. Lead the design and architecture of the organization's wireless network infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security. Implement and manage wireless networking fundamentals, including wireless protocols, standards, and best practices. Design and deploy wireless network solutions, including wireless access points, controllers, and network management systems. Ensure the security and integrity of the wireless network, implementing wireless security solutions and protocols. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate wireless networking with the overall network infrastructure and data center environments. Optimize wireless network performance, identifying and resolving issues to enhance coverage and reliability. Monitor network performance, uptime and user connectivity in real-time. Work with network management and wireless design tools (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet). Schedule and perform routine checks and maintenance on all wireless access devices (e.g., wireless access points, wireless controllers) to ensure optimal operation. Provide on-demand troubleshooting for connectivity issues and user support for wireless network-related problems. Access network usage and plan for upgrades or expansions to accommodate growth and changes in user demand. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes and maintenance activities. Draft and publish policies, procedures and best practices. Perform lab and test designs and functions of all wireless networking equipment. Audit network designs for over-design or under-design. Collaborate cross functionally with other departments to ensure best practices and innovation. Train and work with operational staff members. Identify potential risks, including hardware failures, security breaches and develop mitigation strategies for each. Perform all aspects of wireless installation, configuration, maintenance, sustainment, upgrade, replacement, troubleshooting and removal following approved guidelines and direction. Provide suggestions and recommendations to customer regarding wireless architecture to include wireless design, hardware models and software versions. Manage software configurations, device certificates, software backups and software upgrades. Implement and maintain DISA STIG and IAVM compliance, utilizing agency change control and management processes as it pertains to Enterprise Wireless Network devices. Troubleshoot wireless end-user devices (Handheld Terminals (HHT), wireless laptops, scales, IOT, etc.). Provide artifacts and documents to support RMF as directed by customer
