About The Position

The Network Engineer V supports the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network Labor Contract to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the DLIFLC Academic Network which provides the IT environment for 100% of the DLIFLC teaching and instructing for all students, staff, faculty, and guests in a learning environment at the unclassified level.

Requirements

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years experience or substitute with AA/AS with 7+ years experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, preferably with a focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
  • Certified to work on Extreme Networks products, such as switches, routers, access points, and network management tools.
  • Adept at troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing network-related projects, including planning, implementation, and documentation, including network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
  • Require any one of the following IAT Level II (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP) Certification and CE/OS Certification.
  • CCNA Certification or equivalent required.
  • VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2)
  • Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points
  • Palo Alto Networks Firewall knowledge of PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering / Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
  • Cisco Networks switches and routers
  • Aruba Networks Excellent knowledge of Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass
  • Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System
  • Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches / Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
  • SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends.
  • Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Serve as network engineer Lead. Responsibilities include monitoring, testing, and analyzing all elements of the network facilities.
  • Ensure the datacenter operates 24x7 with DoD-directed updates and security patches.
  • Monitor, document, and control the Academic Network performance for response, throughput, and availability.
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software issues related to the commercial network’s wireless and hardwired elements.
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for improving efficiencies with emerging technologies.
  • Manage the Academic Network internet IP addressing schemes to ensure maximum availability.
  • Manage the Cybersecurity Network and Boundary Defense, Intrusion Detection tools and Techniques, and Incident Response.
  • Research, recommend, and implement best business practices for controlling and monitoring access to the Academic Network.
  • Maintain the reliability and security of the DLIFLC Network's voice, data, and wireless services.
