About The Position

About TransMedics TransMedics is revolutionizing organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a platform that preserves and assesses donor organs outside the body. Our engineering and manufacturing teams work at the leading edge of regulated medical device production to ensure safe, high-quality products that directly impact patient lives. Position Summary The NPI (New Product Introduction) Manufacturing Intern will support the transition of new products and design changes from development into manufacturing. This role provides hands-on exposure to process development, fixture design and fabrication, and product testing within a highly regulated medical device environment. You will work alongside Manufacturing and NPI Engineers to improve manufacturability, enhance efficiency, and ensure product quality as new innovations move toward production.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
  • College Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Experience using SolidWorks (academic or internship experience acceptable)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work hands-on in a lab and manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fixture design, prototyping, or hands-on fabrication
  • Interest in manufacturing engineering or medical device development
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing concepts

Responsibilities

  • Process Development & Improvement Assist in developing and refining manufacturing processes for new products
  • Support process documentation including work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in process validation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce variability, and enhance product quality
  • Fixture Design & Fabrication Design and model manufacturing fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks
  • Support prototype fabrication and testing of fixtures
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to iterate designs based on real-world use
  • Assist in transitioning fixture designs into production-ready solutions
  • Product Testing & Validation Support testing activities for new and modified products
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation
  • Ensure testing is conducted in alignment with quality system requirements
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams
