Do you love the thrill of generating new product ideas and then watching your ideas move from the concept to launch stage? Our client is seeking a New Product Manager to join their team. You will be responsible for assessing external technologies, identifying and managing opportunities with outside companies, working with engineering on new ideas, driving long-range product planning, preparing new ideas to move into the product-development system, working closely with product development teams, and bringing products to successful product launches.
A New Product Manager on our team is focused on the consumer electronics industry, opportunities, and adjacencies in our various business units. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for emerging and growing our businesses and working with engineering and sales to drive great new products from research & advanced development to a successful launch. You will identify relevant technologies and market trends, drive important conversations, and make strong recommendations that we can act upon through briefs, whitepapers, and other activities. The deep expertise you and your team will enable you to drive compelling long-range product plans and to work as a highly credible leader with research, advanced development, product development, category business management, and sales. Working directly with product marketing, engineering, research, and consumer research, you will help drive what the division does next.
The New Product Manager is a person who uses excellent communications skills to work well with a wide variety of people including non-technical marketing/sales staff, engineers, and executives. The true key to your success is your ability to blend creativity (seeing new questions, and imagining new answers) with analytic skills (digging deeply to create clarity from ambiguity).
RESPONSBILITIES:
* Articulate and champion opportunities within, and adjacent to our existing primary businesses as well as with our newest product launches
* Ideate new products and plan product roadmaps
* Assess emerging external technologies and competitors to determine if there are products we can launch to truly make an impact in the market.
* Develop strong relationships with various internal teams
* Develop relationships with outside companies who could potentially partner with our company
* Work with Product Development to build new products
* Work with domestic sales teams to develop the plan to launch new products into the market via distributors, and direct.
Job Requirements
SKILLS
* A passion for Consumer Electronics
* You have an obsession for breaking technologies and advancements and love to always be learning
* You are probably the first of your friends to have the newest and latest technologies and gadgets
* Background in consumer electronics or related fields (engineering, science, acoustics, video, software, user experience design) strongly preferre
* Incredible communication skills both verbal, written, and in formal presentation situations.
* Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions
* You understand the work involved in NEW product planning, development, and launches
* Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within the Executive Team, Marketing, Category Business Management, Engineering, Research, and Sales.
* Travel: 10% mostly to conferences
EDUCATION
* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
* 8+ years of related experience
* An advance degree such as a Masters or MBA is preferred but not required
