WACH Summer News Intern

Step inside the newsroom where stories break, voices matter, and information
moves at the speed of now.

We’re looking for a passionate, curious, and driven News Intern to join our team
for Summer 2026. As part of a forward-thinking media organization, you won’t
just observe—you’ll actively contribute to the storytelling that informs and
connects our community across platforms.

From breaking news to digital-first storytelling, this is your opportunity to
experience what modern journalism really looks like.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate
• Be at least a sophomore at an accredited college/university
• Be eligible to work in the United States
• Be available to work on-site at WACH in Columbia, SC approximately 15 hours per week for 10 weeks
• Be able to start between June 1 – June 19, 2026
• Have reliable transportation (housing/relocation is not provided)
• Be passionate about local news, storytelling, and community impact
• Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

• Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
• Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers—both in the newsroom and out in the field
• Bring fresh story ideas to the table and help shape coverage that matters to our audience
• Learn how to shoot video, frame compelling visuals, and understand what makes a story stand out
• Gain exposure to control room operations and how live broadcasts come together in real time
