About The Position

As a PRN resident physician on our team, you will provide patient care as a member of our medical provider team at the Longview Acute Care Facility.  Longview opened in December 2023 as a collaboration between Larimer County and SummitStone Health Partners - we provide comprehensive, collaborative, and trauma-informed care for behavioral health and substance use across the lifespan.  We have a 24/7 Behavioral Health Urgent Care, an Observation Unit, and four additional units (56 beds) serving adolescents and adults for either crisis stabilization or withdrawal management.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university.
  • Residents in good standing who have successfully completed their first and second year at an accredited residency program and are fully licensed.
  • License to practice medicine in the state of Colorado required
  • DEA Certification required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or identification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills. Other language skills also beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the medical team representative to a multidisciplinary treatment team designed to offer comprehensive behavioral health services.
  • Evaluate clients for mental health, substance use and medical disorders, determine the appropriate course of treatment for the clients.
  • Diagnose, manage, treat, and prescribe medication for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses with an emphasis on substance use and mental health. Perform procedures as needed such as performing injections, suturing, and managing wounds.
  • Assess client health by interviewing clients, performing physical examinations, reviewing medications, and reviewing medical histories.
  • Interpret and evaluate client data to determine client management and treatment options.
  • Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as withdrawal, acute intoxication, cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, and convulsions.
  • Document client care services by charting client and department records prior to the end of each shift.
  • Instruct and counsel clients by describing therapeutic regimens, providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Promotes health equity by delivering high-quality, evidence-based care that actively addresses disparities and improves access, engagement, and outcomes for marginalized and underserved populations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
