About The Position

The Traveling EHS Manager for the NTS Region leads the development, implementation, and enforcement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures across multiple, geographically dispersed National Tech Systems (NTS) project sites. This exempt role ensures consistent compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and EC standards. The Traveling EHS Manager acts as the primary EHS expert and liaison between corporate leadership and field operations, fostering a culture of safety excellence, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • 8–10 years of progressive EHS experience in construction or industrial environments, with multi-site management experience.
  • CSP, CIH, CHST, or equivalent required.
  • Expert understanding of OSHA, EPA, NFPA 70E, and other regulatory standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (50–75%), including occasional after-hours emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute EHS strategy across all NTS projects, aligning with EC’s comprehensive safety framework and client-driven requirements.
  • Provide disciplined, on-site executive oversight through scheduled travel to NTS jobsites, strengthening audit quality, mentorship, and program consistency.
  • Serve as a liaison for regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, NFPA 70E, state/local) and client safety leadership, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
  • Deliver accurate, scheduled reports to executive leadership on EHS performance, compliance, and program effectiveness.
  • Influence design and construction decisions for optimal safety outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop site EHS professionals and operational teams, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Oversee daily EHS activities and performance at various NTS Region sites to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
  • Collaborate with site leadership, HR, and operations teams to integrate safety into all business processes and decision-making.
  • Manage EHS budgets and resources across multiple sites.
  • Develop and implement accountability models for project teams and subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety plans.
  • Conduct frequent and comprehensive site audits and inspections to identify hazards and assess regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to all Federal, State, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and company EHS policies across all locations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and reporting processes.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and pre-task plans (PTPs) for completeness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation and record-keeping systems for all EHS-related activities, accidents, and inspections.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS management systems, programs (hazardous waste, emergency response, LOTO, confined space), and procedures.
  • Lead detailed incident investigations and perform root cause analyses to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyse EHS data and metrics to identify trends, pinpoint high-risk areas, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Evaluate safety of new processes, equipment, and facilities before implementation.
  • Introduce innovative safety technologies and leverage data-driven insights to drive program improvement.
  • Develop and standardize EHS training materials and programs for site leadership, EHS staff, and general employees.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee training on safety procedures, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response protocols.
  • Promote and foster a strong, proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across all levels of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, from frontline workers to senior executives, regarding safety performance and initiatives.
