About The Position

T he Nuclear Equipment Operator is responsible for operating station equipment and systems in accordance with Administrative, Procedural, and Regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or GED equivalent .
  • Good computer skills
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Strong teaming skills
  • Must be able to climb stairs, work above and below ground, and lift loads up to fifty pounds
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to be a Radiation Worker
  • Applicant will be required to successfully complete the following to be considered for the position: Plant Operations System Selection (POSS) test, Fire Brigade physical, Requisites to obtain unescorted access to the power plant, which include: psychological examination, drug screen, and security background check.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned equipment, complete documentation associated with these inspections, and adjust equipment as necessary for proper equipment and system operation.
  • Monitor trends in equipment performance and inform control room of any unexpected indications.
  • Identify and initiate actions for material condition issues.
  • Perform the initial actions in response to an off-normal condition, and perform follow up actions as directed
  • Identify and correct any abnormal conditions, hazards to personnel or equipment, or challenges to continuous service, if possible, and report any findings to the Control Room.
  • As a member of the site Fire Brigade, perform firefighting, rescue , first aid and chemical spill response activities.
  • Perform surveillances and special test activities .
  • Operate equipment to monitor and process equipment drains.
  • Satisfactorily participate in a continuing training program structured to maintain and enhance job proficiency
