About The Position

Under the direction of a Radiologist, Facility Manager performs radiographic nuclear medicine and PET procedures according to protocols established for various age groups of patients, at a technical level requiring supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of general nuclear medicine procedures that will require judgement and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation and radionuclides for diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required. This role includes Specialist, Supervisor or Team Lead nuclear medicine / PET technologists. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (overall) include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. • Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure that is going to be performed, and records all reasons for the exam including the all signs and symptoms. • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. • Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. • Moves nuclear medicine/PET equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance. • Processes radiologic digital images and examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability. • Verify that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS. Make changes in billing codes/exam titles as needed. • Make sure to present any prior studies along with current studies to radiologist for diagnostic assessment. • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. • Stock/Order supplies, check machine for any problems, perform equipment QC as needed and any other duties that may be assigned to you daily. • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a 2 year radiologic technology program from an accredited school.
  • Current and valid Florida State License (CRT)
  • Current and valid Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry and Nuclear Medicine (NM) registry
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association (CPR)
  • Knowledge & skill performing NM & PET procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform NM testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of NM equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations
  • Team leadership role.
  • Safety skills in administration of radionuclide isotopes.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
  • Skill in performing quality exams and exercising compassion with patients.
  • Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and management.
