Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Experience in nuclear power plant chemistry, with specific focus on secondary side systems
  • Working knowledge of: Steam generator chemistry control EPRI SGOG and secondary chemistry guidelines Corrosion mechanisms in PWR secondary systems Chemical cleaning processes (EPRI SGOG, HTCC, soft chemical cleaning methods)
  • Knowledge regarding and experience interpreting laboratory analytical data, plant chemistry trends, and site chemistry procedures
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and industry standards (NRC, INPO, EPRI) and other national, state and local regulatory agency requirements
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to plant personnel and leadership
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting outages is preferred
  • Knowledge of waste processing and disposal related to chemical cleaning activities is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and experience to advise nuclear power plants on secondary side chemistry performance including steam generators, condensate, feedwater, and turbine systems
  • Provide technical guidance on chemistry control programs in alignment with EPRI Secondary Water Chemistry Guidelines
  • Support nuclear power plants in outages with advice and consultation and also receiving and analyzing samples, including chemistry sampling, data review, troubleshooting.
  • Interpret laboratory data and identify trends, risks, or degradation mechanisms
  • Develop technical reports, presentations, and client-facing deliverables
  • Support steam generator chemistry optimization, corrosion mitigation strategies, and R&D opportunities
  • Support processing and disposition of chemical cleaning waste for SG chemical cleaning projects
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of chemistry programs and best practices
  • Lead and manage chemistry team to maintain and expand detrimental material analysis and database
  • Process engineering participation with application and water management development for SG chemical cleaning opportunities
  • Provide advice, consultation, and direction to Chemistry Material Center (CMC) lab in the analytical lab, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) imaging equipment, Radiochemistry, Failure analysis, corrosion testing and analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, etc.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to nuclear utility customers
