This position is for a Nuclear Propulsion (NP) Systems & Integration Engineer who will implement systems engineering processes to enable a successful design definition and product realization throughout NP system development lifecycle phases. Primary duties for the NP Engine Systems & Integration Engineer include: Lead integration efforts for one or more elements of the nuclear engine systems team. Elements include the Reactor Core & Components (RCC), Modeling and Simulation (M&S), Technical Integrator (across all elements), and Non-Nuclear Components (NNC) (turbomachinery, nozzle, valves/actuators). Support requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation associated with the development of NP system by applying Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) knowledge to project activities. Prepare reports and technical assessments in areas of NP systems and performance. Coordinate, develop, and present technical materials related to engine system performance, testing and integration to support design milestone reviews and anomaly investigations. Attend technical interchange, project planning, design review, and other appropriate meetings to maintain a current knowledge base of design, requirements, issues, action items, resolution and verification activities. Identify issues, pursue resolutions, and support analyses. Complete assigned action items. Assess requirements and implement risk management processes. Translate higher level requirements into lower-level requirements and design options. Conduct assessments to determine optimal and feasible design solutions. Identify and document customer objectives and product requirements. Identify and manage engine system interfaces. Perform other duties as assigned. Education requirements are a BS plus 25 years of experience, or MS plus 23 years of experience in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited university.
