The Nurse Aide is responsible for providing direct care to residents under the direction of the nurse in charge, and to assist/perform activities of daily living (i.e., bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, bowel/bladder elimination, eating/feeding, mobility) with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining the highest level of resident independence. The Nursing Assistant under the direction of the Nurse participates in the implementation of the resident care plan or the resident individualized service plan (ISP) through performance of specific tasks: Assist Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and residents in performing Activities of Daily Living and other personal care as described in the Care Plan to include bathing, grooming, mouth/denture care, nail care, foot care, hair care, dressing, toileting, hygiene, mobility, assistance with hearing aids/glasses, transport, ambulation, and other resident assistance. Promptly report changes in the resident’s physical and cognitive status to the Nurse. Assist residents on admission and discharge – packing/unpacking belongings; orientation to surroundings; introduction to other team members and residents; gathering data for the Nurse assessment. Understand and provide for emotional needs of residents. Transport residents to various departments as needed (i.e., therapy, activities, beauty shop). Assist with maintaining a safe, attractive, and comfortable environment for residents. Adhere to Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions for infection control per community policy. Dispose of infectious waste according to policy and state laws and regulations. Focuses on goal achievement and task accomplishment. Takes the lead to identify and resolve needs. Pass ice, make beds, answer call light, assist during mealtimes and other duties as assigned
