Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  • Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in the clinical specialty.
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

  • Orients, trains, and provides support to nursing students, externs, residents, nursing staff, departmental support staff.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Staff Registered Nurse.
  • Provides oversight of preceptor selection process; may serve as preceptor.
  • Uses adult learning principles to plan, design, implement, and evaluate educational opportunities and workshops for staff.
  • Facilitates implementation of policies, procedures, and equipment.
  • Maintains education and competency records for unit-based staff.
  • Assist with unit-specific competency program; determines competency needs; participates in annual competency evaluation process.
  • Participates in hospital-wide QI Program and assists in regulatory and compliance preparation.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports unit-based QI measurement indicators.
