The Nurse Extern Program is an important piece of our nursing pipeline, as we strive to grow and retain the very best nurses and to provide the best possible care to our patients. Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center’s Nurse Intern Program for student nurses is designed to expand your understanding of the dynamic role of the RN. You’ll work right alongside members of our nursing team! This experience will help you learn to act and think like a nurse, sharpen your assessment and critical-thinking skills and develop relationships with other professionals throughout the hospital. This is a highly competitive, part- to full-time paid summer internship lasting up to eight weeks. During this incredible learning experience, you will also have an opportunity to discuss unit and hospital quality initiatives and review the latest trends and initiatives in healthcare. By the end of the summer, you will understand the professional role of the registered nurse and how nurses assess and meet the needs of their patients. It is certainly an exciting time to be a nurse! The Nurse Intern Program experiences are available in our Medical & Surgical units, as well as Women’s & Children’s Center, Behavioral Health Services, Critical Care Unit, Emergency Services, and Surgical Services. Externs will be able to indicate their preferences during the application process.
