About The Position

Student Nurse Practicums are coordinated with the University and the School District. Student Nurse Practicum placements are for those University and College students who are working toward a nursing degree. Student nurses are paired with school nurses based on nurse availability.

Requirements

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
• Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Basic Life Support
• Colorado driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• Colorado Special Services Provider (SSP) Internship Authorization (required, only if interested in subbing during internship)
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support school health services alongside the school nurse.
• Promote student wellness.
• Engage in health promotion activities.
• Integrate community oriented nursing and community based nursing to safely care for individuals, families, and populations in the community.
• Demonstrate standards of nursing practice in a clinical setting.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
