About The Position

The Dialysis Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the entire dialysis service line, overseeing all clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory aspects across modalities. Works closely with the Dialysis Center Medical Director on all things related to the dialysis program. Accountable for clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, fiscal performance, workforce development, and operational efficiency, the manager establishes and enforces clinical policies, performance metrics, risk‑management practices, and survey readiness. This role leads program planning, business development, and the design, launch and expansion of new dialysis programs, satellite clinics, service lines and facilities—managing equipment selection, vendor contracts, supply chain, and capital/project coordination. The manager serves as a liaison between the dialysis program and hospital leadership, medical staff, pharmacy, case management, social work, supply vendors and external regulators (CMS, ESRD Networks, DNV, state health departments, etc.), and uses clinical and operational data to drive continuous improvement, patient experience initiatives, and regulatory reporting. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Current RN license in the State of Oregon.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in dialysis, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strategic planning, project management, clinical expertise, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and strong leadership abilities.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field.
Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)
Certification in specialty area.

Responsibilities

Direct and manage the daily operations of inpatient, outpatient, and/or home dialysis services.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and best practices in accordance with CMS, state, and federal regulations.
Coordinate schedules, staffing assignments, and workflow to meet patient needs and maximize efficiency.
Maintain optimal supply levels and oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and safety.
Collaborates on assessments and feasibility studies for new dialysis service lines, programs, and facilities.
Oversee the planning, design, and build-out of new dialysis units, including space planning, equipment selection, and integration of technology.
Develop business cases, budgets, and implement timelines for new or expanded services.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies during facility planning and construction.
Establish policies, procedures, and staffing plans for new service lines to ensure seamless integration into existing operations.
Monitor post-launch performance of new programs and facilities to ensure quality, efficiency, and financial sustainability.
Maintain program compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage, state licensing, infection control guidelines, and safety standards.
Oversee preparation for internal and external audits, surveys, and inspections.
Ensure regulatory requirements are addressed during new program/service line development and facility openings.
Develop and manage the program’s budget, including revenue and expense tracking.
Identify opportunities for cost containment without compromising patient care.
Coordinate with hospital billing and accounting departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reconciliation of patient charges, insurance claims, reimbursements, and program financial records.
Assist in development of financial models for new service lines and facilities to ensure long-term viability.
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate dialysis staff.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
Facilitate staff education on new equipment, treatment techniques, and regulatory updates.
Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety, infection prevention, and clinical outcomes.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Monitor and investigate adverse events, implementing corrective actions in collaboration with Surgical Services managers to prevent recurrence.
Promote a culture of safety, encouraging staff to report errors and near misses.
Communicate effectively with patients and families, addressing their concerns and providing information about their care.
