As the Nurse Manager, you will oversee operations for the SICU, ensuring appropriate staffing, maintaining quality outcomes, supporting caregiver development, and providing clinical and operational guidance in a fast-paced environment where schedules and patient needs can shift quickly. This role requires strong multitasking, problem-solving, and leadership skills to ensure smooth daily operations and deliver an exceptional experience for patients and caregivers across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise. A caregiver in this role works shifts varying between from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 a.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

  • Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
  • Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
  • Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
