Full time Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant working with the psychiatry team embedded in the Emergency Department to provide psychiatric consults and management of psychiatric patients who present to the MUSC ED, under the supervision of a psychiatrist. Will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and work with a team of ED based psychiatrists as part of the Mental Health ICCE, within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. The standard scheduled night shift is from 11PM to 7AM for 14 shifts per month required for full-time positions. The night shift only Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will work greater than 90% night shifts. Other day shifts may be required as needed which are 7AM to 5PM or 1PM to 11PM with some weekends and holidays required. There are four additional 10-hour shifts built into the schedule per year, one per quarter. This includes coverage of the psychiatry D-POD area as well as the adult EmPATH unit. The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will start out working day shifts until they’re trained. The training period varies on the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant. During the training period, the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will earn the day shift pay premium. Once the training period is over, the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will transition to their night shifts and earn the night shit pay premium.
