The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) is responsible for providing healthcare services to patients under the supervision of, and/or in collaboration with, the attending physician. These services include, but not limited to, medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, and referrals. Consists of diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical prescription As with any other health care professional, the Advanced Practitioner is charged with being a patient advocate. The Advanced Practitioner will participate in patient satisfaction, quality, and performance improvement initiatives. The AP will cover the trauma service at SLGV, SLB & SLRA as directed. In the trauma role, the AP will be responsible for covering trauma alerts as the primary responder and in a secondary role (for procedures), new evaluations / transfers, daily floor rounds and discharges, communicating with multidisciplinary team and families as well as assisting in covering the outpatient trauma clinic at SLB. In the surgical role, the AP will assist the general surgery residents in the day-to-day management of the general surgery service primarily outside of the OR. Working Schedule: Can expect both days and nights as well as weekends (1-in-3 to 1-in-4); holiday rotation.
