Our Electrophysiology team provides advanced diagnostic and treatment options for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, including electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, tilt table testing, and pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation. Our comprehensive Pacemaker/ICD Clinic specializes in the evaluation and management of heart rhythm disorders and provides ongoing device management and advanced electrophysiology care. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Electrophysiology team. The weekly schedule includes 36 hours of clinical, patient-facing time and 4 hours of administrative time. This position consists of five 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Each morning, the NP/PA will round on electrophysiology patients at Salem Hospital (81 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA) for approximately 2–3 hours. The remainder of the day will be spent seeing follow-up patients in the outpatient electrophysiology clinic located on the Salem Hospital campus. Additionally, the NP/PA will provide coverage in the cardiology stress lab at 331 Highland Avenue in Salem, MA one day every seven days. Please note, patient volume and staffing considerations could make this variable. The NP/PA will have the following responsibilities in both the inpatient and outpatient settings:

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred
  • Previous experience in cardiology and/or electrophysiology as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required

Responsibilities

  • Round on electrophysiology patients at Salem Hospital
  • May round on general cardiology and device patients
  • May assist electrophysiologists with procedures
  • Provide follow-up care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias in the electrophysiology clinic
  • Perform device clinic visits including interrogation and management of pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders
  • Review remote monitoring reports and adjust treatment plans as appropriate
  • Conduct pre-procedure evaluations and patient education for electrophysiology procedures
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies such as ECGs and ambulatory rhythm monitors
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
