About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical professional who has graduated from an accredited PA program, has passed the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistance (NCCPA) exam and has an active NCCPA certification. The PA has the education and training to provide acute care of adult and pediatric populations. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing holistic primary care to patients under the medical supervision of the Medical Director as outlined in the Collaborative Practice Agreement. This position involves ongoing collaboration with Department physicians. This position is responsible and accountable for providing quality care to outpatients as defined by Missouri Statute Saint Francis Healthcare System is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join the Emergency Department and Southeast Missouri's only Level III Trauma Center. Our emergency and trauma center is a state-of-the-art facility with 32 patient rooms and serves nearly 42,000 patients annually. The facility houses: 26 private treatment rooms with direct access to bathrooms 3 trauma rooms 2 triage rooms 1 special procedures room Specially designated children’s exam areas and equipment specifically tailored to treat children of all ages Senior-friendly accommodations such as thicker mattresses, higher chairs, large-print forms, guardrails and nonskid flooring to enhance comfort and encourage a speedy return to the highest quality of life Join the Saint Francis family where we are better together and where people come first! Position Details: -Join a group of 16 employed Emergency Medicine physicians and 5 employed Advanced Practice Providers -Schedule is 14, 12-hour shifts per month -EMR: Epic

Requirements

  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Missouri
  • AHA or Red Cross BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe working environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and examination, diagnostics and treatment room procedures
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, physicians, staff and the public
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards and maintain calm and effective reactions during emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly, as well as understanding and responding to detailed oral and written instructions
  • Current BLS certification and required licenses
  • Ability to learn and efficiency utilize diagnostic equipment, electronic systems for ordering, medical records and other common computer programs
  • Graduate from accredited School of Nursing and an approved Nurse Practitioner Program OR Graduate from a Committee on Allied health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or successor accredited program.
