About The Position

The System Nurse Residency Coordinator provides comprehensive leadership and coordination for the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) across all Centralus facilities. This role ensures a unified, high‑quality transition‑to‑practice experience for new graduate nurses entering diverse clinical environments throughout the health system. Responsibilities include system wide assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all components of the 12‑month residency program. The coordinator ensures alignment with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and evidence‑based practice while supporting new nurses as they progress from novice to advanced beginner/competent practitioners. This position influences workforce development, retention strategies, and clinical excellence across the entire system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and computer skills required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience in nursing education, professional development, or residency program coordination preferred.
  • ACLS preferred within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and operational management of the Nurse Residency Program across all Centralus.
  • Develop and maintain standardized system wide processes, curriculum, and evaluation methods to ensure consistency and equity in the residency experience across all facilities.
  • Coordinate system wide scheduling, communication, and logistics for multiple concurrent residency cohorts, ensuring alignment with staffing needs and organizational priorities.
  • Utilize Vizient/AACN NRP Casey‑Fink Survey data to analyze trends across the system, identify opportunities for improvement, and guide curriculum refinement.
  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the NRP curriculum using multiple modalities (didactic, simulation, hands‑on activities, case studies, escape rooms) tailored to system wide needs.
  • Establish and maintain a psychologically safe learning environment across all sites, promoting engagement, reflection, and professional growth.
  • Conduct system‑level data collection, outcomes tracking, and reporting to support workforce planning, retention initiatives, and leadership decision‑making.
  • Recruit, train, and support Clinical Reflection facilitators across the system to ensure consistent coaching, critical thinking development, and emotional support for residents.
  • Serve as the primary system liaison with Vizient/AACN and other external partners to ensure program compliance, accreditation readiness, and best‑practice alignment.
  • Mentor residents through evidence‑based practice projects, guiding them from inquiry to poster development and supporting dissemination across the system.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with nursing leadership, clinical educators, HR partners, and operational leaders across all Centralus facilities.
  • Serve as a system role model, demonstrating the mission, vision, and values of Centralus in all interactions and initiatives.
  • Represent the Nurse Residency Program at system committees, shared governance councils, and the Nurse Residency Advisory Board, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Lead system wide performance improvement initiatives related to onboarding, retention, competency development, and professional advancement of new graduate nurses.
  • Provide consultation and support to site‑level educators to ensure consistent implementation of residency standards and practices across all facilities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards across the system.
  • Demonstrate personal characteristics of honesty, calmness, reliability, compassion, and integrity; maintain a positive influence on morale and team culture.
  • Identify personal professional development needs and seek appropriate resources to meet them.
  • Uphold all responsibilities of a Registered Nurse.
  • Remain flexible in assuming additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Attend all required annual mandatory education programs.
