About this unit The Neuro Critical Care Unit is an Intensive care unit within the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth hospital. The Neuro ICU is part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at the Medical Center, and it is West Michigan’s largest stroke center. We specialize in the care of patients with stroke or other neurological conditions. These conditions include Hemorrhagic stroke, Ischemic stroke, seizures, and Hydrocephalus with critical care needs. Our nurses are part of a collaborative team and work alongside our nurse techs, intensivists, APPs, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and secretaries to provide specialized care to everyone. This team has worked to develop a culture of collaboration, kindness, teamwork, and learning. Scope of work Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient within our clinics alongside RN’s/Providers. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. Orientation Requirements Orientation for this role will require being available for 3 daytime training shifts per week (between Mon-Thurs, along with rotating weekends) for 8 weeks. After this the regular night shift will begin.
