About The Position
Nurse Unit Manager Mon-Friday Day Shift (RN or LPN) Optalis Health & Rehabilitation – Whitehall 916 E. Lewis Street, Whitehall, MI 49461 Lead. Mentor. Make a Difference. Optalis at Whitehall is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager who is passionate about leadership, quality care, and team development. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to play a key role in shaping resident outcomes, staff success, and unit culture. As a Unit Manager, you’ll provide both clinical leadership and operational oversight , ensuring high standards of care while supporting and developing your nursing team.
Requirements
- Active Nurse license ( RN/LPN ) in the state of Michigan
- Minimum 2 years Nursing experience , with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- A team-first mindset with a passion for mentoring others
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and support nursing care delivery for an assigned unit or clinical area
- Oversee the full nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in alignment with state Nurse Practice Act standards
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams to promote resident-centered care, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff to promote growth, accountability, and excellence
- Ensure nursing systems, workflows, and procedures are implemented effectively
- Serve as a key point of communication for residents, families, and care teams
- Supervise CNAs and nursing staff with a focus on education, support, and consistency
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of nursing staff
- Monitor performance, provide coaching, and address corrective actions when needed
- Assist with staffing coordination, including coverage for absences
- Contribute to a respectful, professional, and team-oriented work environment
