Nursery Associate (Seasonal, Closing Shifts)

For the Nursery Associate, this means offering expert guidance on plant care, keeping the nursery area clean and well-stocked, ensuring plant health and presentation, and providing helpful, attentive service to every customer.
Requirements
- Plant knowledge and understanding
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, coworkers, and your direct manager(s).
- Ability to demonstrate and set the example for Adams’ culture and values
- Ability to operate Adams’ point of sale systems
- Willingness to work collaboratively and communicate with a team of co-workers and managers
- Exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality
- Must be 18 years old
- Must be able to lift 50-80 lbs.
- Must be able to operate forklift if certified
- Must be able to squat, climb and bend
- Must be able to stand for most of the shift
- Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift
- Communicate with others to exchange information
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and assist with plant selection and care questions
- Maintain a clean, organized nursery yard and keep displays fully stocked with correct signage
- Monitor product quality and presentation, ensuring healthy plants and accurate packaging
- Perform general plant care tasks such as watering, weeding, transplanting, and fertilizing
- Load carts or vehicles for customers and assist with unloading deliveries
- Operate the cash register and, if assigned, equipment such as forklifts or watering systems
- Support the team by training new associates and assisting with seasonal tasks, Christmas nursery items
- Create and follow a daily watering schedule
