About The Position

CNA/Ward Clerk position on the Med/Surg Floor. This is a PRN position to support staffing needs. 12 hour shifts (7 - 7) nights, days, weekends and holidays as needed. Shift differential paid for night shift and for weekend shift. Title: Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization: Assists nurses in providing nursing care. Works under the direct supervision of an RN. Assists by performing clerical duties within the nursing unit and acting as a receptionist. Reports To: Inpatient Care Director/Registered Nurse Supervises: None

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Training in an approved 120 hour nurse aide course or equivalent training preferred.
  • CPR certification within 3 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Bathes, feeds and cares for patients according to the level of skill and as directed by a nurse.
  • Reports all significant information to nurse in charge of the patient.
  • Works with the interdisciplinary team within the organization.
  • Does cleaning of patient units, equipment, and nursing service areas.
  • Keeps nurse informed of care rendered and duties performed.
  • Answers call lights promptly and completes hourly rounding
  • Delivers patient trays, assists in feeding patients, records amount eaten, and returns trays to kitchen.
  • Collects and documents intake and output throughout the shift.
  • Gives verbal report to nursing staff at end of shift.
  • Takes vital signs and assists with weighing patients as assigned.
  • Assists with transferring patients by wheelchair or cart to other departments
  • Assists patients with ambulation and other rehabilitation needs.
  • Complies with hospital and nursing service policies.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service education when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates willingness to support staffing and scheduling needs.
  • Performs functions other than described above due to extenuating circumstances.
  • Maintains skills in computer documentation.
  • Assists in Long Term Care and Emergency Department when needed and census on floor allows.
  • Acts as receptionist: answers telephone, operates the intercom, and answers questions of visitors as able.
  • Delivers messages.
  • Keeps patient charts up to date with current information.
