Requirements

  • Registered Nurse from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current Multistate Compact RN License.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of inpatient or acute care nursing experience, preferred.
  • Prior charge nurse, virtual nursing, or telehealth experience, preferred.
  • Experience supporting remote patient monitoring or virtual observation programs, preferred.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and multiple virtual care and monitoring platforms, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Virtual Care Clinical Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Virtual Care Program, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care across virtual nursing, virtual PSAs (Patient Safety Attendants), and surveillance monitoring staff.
  • This role is responsible for the operational and clinical performance of the virtual care departments, including staffing, workflow optimization, patient safety escalations, and regulatory compliance.
  • The Virtual Care Clinical Manager collaborates with bedside leadership, IT, and clinical teams to integrate virtual care into hospital operations, support quality improvement initiatives, and achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Assume accountability for the delivery of virtual care services and patient safety outcomes across assigned departments.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and operational oversight to Virtual Care Charge Nurses, Virtual Nurses, Virtual Patient Safety Attendants (PSAs), and remote monitoring staff.
  • Maintain accountability for staff education, appropriate utilization of resources, patient satisfaction, and compliance with state, federal, and national standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for virtual care initiatives to hospital leaders across the enterprise.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic staffing plans to ensure appropriate coverage based on patient census, acuity, and operational needs.
  • Oversee workflow prioritization and coordination for virtual admissions, discharges, rounding, observation, and remote patient monitoring activities.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex patient safety concerns, workflow challenges, and virtual care technology issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, organizational, and departmental policies, procedures, and documentation requirements related to virtual care delivery.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology, technology vendors, and hospital leadership to optimize virtual care platforms and support troubleshooting and system enhancements.
  • Lead quality and performance improvement initiatives through analysis of virtual care metrics, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency data.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for virtual care staff, supporting professional development, competency validation, and continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain effective communication with bedside leadership, physicians, and clinical managers regarding high-risk patients, operational status, and unresolved concerns.
  • Ensure virtual care equipment and technology platforms are operational, maintained appropriately, and utilized according to organizational standards.
  • Support departmental budget management, responsible resource utilization, and achievement of operational and organizational goals.
