O&P Lab Technician, Prosthetics & Orthotics
About The Position
AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client seeking an Orthotics & Prosthetics Technician to support clinical and fabrication operations in Erie, PA. This role focuses on assisting with the fabrication, modification, and repair of custom prosthetic and orthotic devices that help improve patient mobility and independence. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with medical devices or fabrication equipment. This position plays a key role in supporting clinicians by ensuring devices are built accurately and prepared for patient fittings.
Requirements
- Experience working in an orthotics and prosthetics lab or similar technical environment preferred
- Background in fabrication, medical device production, or technical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication instructions and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and quality control standards
- Comfortable working with hand tools, fabrication equipment, and specialized materials
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and healthcare staff
- High school diploma or technical training in fabrication, manufacturing, or related field
Nice To Haves
- Experience in prosthetics and orthotics fabrication environments
- Familiarity with lamination, vacuum forming, or carbon fiber fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of prosthetic components and orthotic device construction
- Experience working in a healthcare or medical device setting
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble custom orthotic and prosthetic devices based on clinical specifications
- Modify, adjust, and repair existing prosthetic and orthotic components as needed
- Prepare molds, models, and materials used in the fabrication process
- Operate specialized equipment used in prosthetic and orthotic device production
- Assist clinicians by preparing devices for patient fittings and adjustments
- Maintain proper documentation related to fabrication and device modifications
- Ensure materials and equipment are maintained according to safety and quality standards
- Track and organize inventory of lab materials and components
- Support quality control procedures to ensure devices meet clinical requirements
